Beskrivelse

Jack Mason is fast approaching his fortieth birthday. His wife is having an affair and he is at a crossroads with his career. He still has a hangover from his childhood, where his father was a dictatorial and sometimes violent character. The one positive thing that Jack's father did do, was to take him to see the rocket launches at the Cape, and this sparked a fire inside Jack. Jack also has a secret. For as long as he can remember he wanted to fly in a rocket. So much so that he has bought an old German A4 brought to the US after World War II and has spent all his spare time working out how he can convert it into a credible option for a working rocket, to get as near as possible to space. Jack stumbles across his wife's affair by chance and this is the catalyst for him to take a dead end job for the government, researching weather patterns in Montana, the reason? It will be a perfect cover for turning his dream into a reality. Along the way Jack has to turn to others for help in the most unlikely of places and learns about not being afraid to turn dreams into reality and never giving up. It isn't long before the Authorities and the Press, realise something is happening and the launch turns into a media circus, with everyone trying to get in on the action. The Space Agency become worried and send up Christian Shaw, Jack's arch rival, who holds they key to whether Jack will get the green light to fly.
