Life really could get horrid sometimes, and Miriam was finding that out in the most hurtful of ways. Added to that her heart just kept getting her in all kinds of thing she would rather not be in. She didn't run away from her Amish home to spend a year waiting on her lesbian lover to follow, only for her to later show up along with baggage. Nope This was just too much, and so why not see what else the world had to offer. And it had much to offer her when she met the smashing woman form the rich side of town.
