Middle school is a time that is riddled with change and confusion. You're no longer in one class with one teacher all day. Your elementary school friends suddenly have new interests and pretend they don't know you. Your body has hair in new places, and you want to find friends who think you're cool. But, what if even the smallest changes cause you to have meltdowns, you've never had friends, and you don't want your body to change?



Finally Found tells the story of Kiera, a bright, quirky 12-year-old who's never quite fit in. Though Kiera has a happy home life as a single child of loving lesbian moms, she struggles to understand who she is and why she's so different from her peers. A chance encounter with another "misfit" on her first day at a new school leads Keira's family down a path toward learning Kiera is autistic.



Finally Found is a fast-moving story of the chapter in Kiera's life as a seventh grader where she receives her autism diagnosis and grapples with what that means for her-both good and bad-while juggling all the other challenges of middle school. It is emotionally evocative yet written to be relatable to middle-grade and young adult readers of diverse backgrounds.
