At 15, Danny Murphy spent the night in jail for breaking a bully's jaw. By 20, he had nearly circled the Earth in training miles to become a n NCAA National Champion and 3-Time All-American runner. What changed?



Feet on Fire is more than a sports autobiography. It is a faith-based, coming-of-age diary of Danny Murphy's deeply-moving and extraordinary struggles and triumphs as he transforms from a solitary underdog, who doesn't know what he wants in life, to a fierce competitor who makes his dream of winning come true as he becomes a national 10,000-Meter champion!



Danny, with a history of severe childhood abuse and serious learning challenges, is reluctantly recruited on the cross-country team at Mira Costa High School. After losing race after race, Danny asks, "How can I become a champion?" His coach jokes, "You can run 18 miles a day. Anyone can become a champion if they are willing to pay the price."



Danny believes him. Over the summer, he designs a rigorous training regimen running barefoot 18 miles a day through his California beach town. He returns to school in the fall as a powerful runner on the varsity team.



His coach sees his drive and takes Danny with him when he leaves for a new coaching job at San Jose State College. There, Danny defies overwhelming odds-learning challenges, illnesses, and injuries. Danny's mantra "Winners never quit" pushes him to never quit, and he succeeds. No matter how insurmountable the odds and challenges, with faith, courage, and resilience, victory can be yours if you never quit!
