Beskrivelse

This is the biography of a German girl at the time of World War II. Ingeborg grows up in a small village in the state of Silesia that shares a border with Poland. All she wants is to study and become a teacher. She has a fairly good life until the Red Army troops come from the east. It is an icy morning and life changes dramatically for Ingeborg and her family. The time of playing in the garden is over and the fight for survival begins. -After the first verse, we were interrupted by a British lieutenant who spoke to us through an interpreter. 'Stop singing One does not sing when one is expelled from the homeland ' We were too afraid then to continue singing. The sudden silence reminded us that we had no rights at all and that we were worthless. The adults were probably hit harder with that comment than the children, it is difficult to assess today.- "An emotional rollercoaster for me. This book just had to be written." - J. Davis "An unforgettable story. I love this book as it brought me to tears. You can see the scenes of the book right in front of your eyes." -S. Suresh "In my view a true masterpiece of a biography. I felt that I became part of the family after the first pages. I will read it again and again. Thank you for sharing, Mr. North." - N. D. Clemence
