Fallen Heart
poems from a loveless cynic turned true believer
after meeting the one he thought didn't exist
This is as real and raw as it gets. Jack had failed at the game of love time and time again. When it finally occurred to him that he was the common denominator in all these failures, he knew he had to just stop trying and take the time to make himself happy instead of looking for someone to do it for him. Eventually having grown to a point of complete contentment in his solitude, Jack found himself unconcerned with whether or not there was anyone out there for him. In fact, he was sure she didn't exist anyway. When pressed by friends, he would admit to the possibility of finding true love, but would always quickly add "Okay, but I'm not holding my breath." He was truly happy on his own. He didn't need anyone to "complete" him. He was already complete. Then suddenly one sunny afternoon, like a phoenix from the ashes of his previous life, there she was. He knew she was special the second he laid eyes on her. They became friendly, he quickly felt inspiration unlike he had ever known, and the words started flowing. Dozens of poems later, they're still friendly and he's still writing, trying to win her heart. Jack has always fancied himself a bit of a writer, but has never had any formal training in the field. The words come to him and he hits the keys, without concern for any rules of poetry style or format. Some are short, some are long, sometimes they rhyme, sometimes they don't. The only rule he follows steadfastly is that of the heart...
