Robert Sexton's 8th edition of Exploring Economics is built upon well-known principles of learning and memory, featuring chapters with several short sections that present an economic concept and function as self-contained learning units. This approach is distinctly more compatible with a modern communication style with which students are familiar and comfortable: short, intense, and exciting bursts of information. The section-by-section approach takes the intimidation out of economics, while the self-contained units consistently reinforce student mastery by including several learning features such as section quizzes, interactive summaries and problem sets. Furthermore, although the text sticks to the fundamental principles of economics, the text is peppered with examples from current events and pop culture in order to make economic concepts relatable and relevant to students.
The result is a highly readable text that will allow students not only to grasp and retain the principles of economics more readily, but will also enable them to begin seeing the connections between economics and the world in which they live.
