Beskrivelse
The European enlargement process raises the question of how belonging to Europe can be constituted. Against the background of cultural-religious debate, which increasingly characterizes Islam as an opposite to Europe, and the fact that in the case of south-eastern enlargement of the EU with Bosnia and Herzegovina, a state with a majority Muslim population would be admitted, the suitability of this region to Europe is up for discussion. The author explores the relationship between "Europeanisation and Islam" with help of religious-political networks and the identity discourses of Bosnian Muslims. Antimuslim discourses, which decidedly reject the idea that Bosnian Muslims belong to Europe, are given particular attention. His book has recently won the Fritz and Helga Exner foundation award 2015 and the cultural sciences dissertation prize 2015
