The Carlist war continues as we find ourselves in the Basque regions with an aristocratic narrator. Our wealthy and wise narrator faces capture by General Cabrera's troops, allowing a window into the cruelties of war and mass executions of the time. As usual, the author incorporates a romantic tale as well.
