In 1485 Henry Tudor took the throne at Bosworth Field, and began the Tudor dynasty as Henry VII just at the time that Europe was in the process of going through some profound changes. As will be examined Henry VII used his foreign policy in order to secure the new dynasty and leave the crown to his son. Fate would intervene and mean that his successor was his second son would become Henry VIII rather than his eldest becoming Arthur I. The marriages that Henry VII arranged for his children would have significant consequences as his attempted to have England punch above its weight.
