L. J. Clayton has taken her inspiration from personal experiences and observed situations. In doing so, she has tackled some emotive issues on abuse and death, whilst effectively balancing the darker poems with a mix of sensual, erotic and spiritual offerings. At the same time, she also takes a playful dig at some of life's minor irritations.
