In part one we are introduced to Lady Mariah who once lived at Falcon Castle in the mythical country of Rushmal Shalin. A fiercely independent woman, she moves out on her own and lives in a cottage in the woods. One day the Prince of Falcon Castle finds his way to her home and two become the best of friends. Later, he brings word of the attack from the barbarians in the North, the Venusians. Mariah's brother Kamal is captured and her other brother Caleb is poisoned. Mariah must find a way to save both. Along the way she meets a traveler from Gaul named Terry and falls madly in love. In part two, Mariah is married to Terry and two of them sail to Gaul to meet his family. The Vandals and the Visigoths attack the fort and settlement where Terry's family lives and Mariah is kidnapped. She is discovers that she is with child only after she has been made a slave. Mariah escapes to give birth alone. Later, she and Terry are reunited and Terry gets to meet the baby son he never knew he had. Mariah and Terry decided to sail back to Rushmal Shalin. Baby Airyon falls ill during the long sea journey and dies once they arrive home. Mariah falls into a deep depression. Part three finds Mariah and Terry being crowned King and Queen of Falcon Castle, but the distance between them grows. Mariah loses herself to memories of the past, wondering if she made the right choices. Terry leaves her and she falls into a dead faint. The doctor says Mariah is now with child again. Prince Kaysem sends word to Terry and sends Mariah to her cottage to rest. Later, Mariah wonders through a snow storm to find Terry. They are reunited and she tells him that he is all she ever wanted. The two return to Falcon Castle and Mariah gives birth to her baby girl Hana. Mariah realizes that she found the hero inside herself and that the citizens of Rushmal Shalin and Falcon Castle could do the same...
