Elsa's world was full of love and sunshine in her pretty, white house near the sea. Life seemed perfect. But unfortunately, things never stay perfect for long. Warm spring days eventually give way to rain. Summer vacations always end. And every rose has its thorn.

Elsa's world gets turned upside down. After a devastating change in her family's fortunes, the Wickes family relocates to a rickety, old house in the countryside. There, Elsa spends much of her time alone with only her thoughts and wild imagination for company. Unable to let go of the past, her new world feels cold, dark and sinister. In Elsa's eyes, every nook and cranny of the ancient house begins to take on a life of its own.
