Beskrivelse
Of all the things Maggie expected to happen when her mother left for vacation, she never predicted the phone call that came informing her that her mother had passed away; along with the request for her to journey to the small city north of New Orleans just days before the biggest celebration of the year, Mardi Gras. As if her mother's death wasn't hard enough, Maggie is now faced with adversity and mystery as she begins to unravel two centuries of eerie family secrets, causing her only rather fragile tether to sanity to break. The only way out for her is to give up her perception of reality and face the hard truth about who her mother really was before it's too late. This is a novel not just about navigating the perils of an unusual family, but about understanding and overcoming the complications of being a mother, a daughter, and a non-believer.
