Beskrivelse
This is an introductory work explaining the principles, construction, and use of electric motors and their associated drive controls. It starts from school-level basic physics, but progresses to discuss state-of-the-art topics such as piezoelectric motors and vector control. It is largely non-mathematical in its approach and provides an uncluttered overview of the subject easily accessible to beginning students in electrical and electronic engineering as well as engineers and scientists from other disciplines. It is very well illustrated with precise and clear diagrams and photographs, and comes from the pen of a provenauthor and eminent engineer in the subject. Electric motors provide the motive power for information technology machinery: computer disk drives and printers; for domestic machinery: washing machines and air-conditioners; for industrial automation: conveyor belts and robots. Their abundance has been used as an index of a country's development.
