The first of three exhibitions presented as part of the City of Albuquerque's Tricentennial celebration. The series offers a broad overview of the rich and varied history of Spanish culture through major works of art. El Alma de Espa a focuses on the work of Spanish Masters from 16th to early 19th century Spain. Included are portraiture, still life, and religious and allegorical themes, many dating from the Golden Age of Spain. Essays by scholars of the Spanish "Golden Age" bring a fresh perspective to this time period. Parallel text in English and Spanish. Full page images.
