Economic Ethics of World Religion Confucianism and Taoism (Latest Revision) collects first three articles of Economic Ethics of World Religion , a magnum opus written by Weber during his lifetime for the comparison between religious sociology: Introduction, Confucianism and Taoism and Researches on Transition. In the book, the subject Weber studied is: why didn't western capitalism appear in China? Weber analyzes the social structure of China with most words, and then focuses on Chinese traditional culture- Confucianism Ethics which is based on this social structure, and also he incidentally observes Taoism which is seemed as the heterodoxy. Weber conducted thorough and comparison and analysis on Confucianism and western puritanism, and finally came to a conclusion: Confucianism ethics prevent the development of capitalism in China.
