Immerse yourself in "The Ukrainian Epic: Love and Conflict," a multi-volume saga that explores life, love, and tragedy amidst the tumult of modern Ukraine. The first volume, "Echoes from Crimea," is a literary tour de force that weaves the destinies of two Ukrainian families against the backdrop of major geopolitical crises: the Euromaidan, Russia's annexation of Crimea, and the distant echo of the Holocaust.
Ivan, a Kiev-based businessman, and Holocaust survivor, is haunted by memories of his past when Nazi symbols resurface during demonstrations in Maidan Square. His daughter Hanna, a student in Kyiv hailing from a wealthy Ukrainian-Jewish family, navigates her complex heritage amidst the throes of the Euromaidan revolution.
In a parallel storyline, we follow Sacha, another political science student in Kyiv, originally from Donbass. Unaware of Hanna's existence, he strives to reconcile his multifaceted identity with the political and social realities tearing apart his country, particularly his native region of Donbass. Sacha is torn between his education in Kyiv and the expectations of his family left behind in the conflict-ridden Donbass, consisting of his father Serguei, mother Irina, and sister Natalia.
