Dwellings is a story of places and people as encountered by Chet, who first appears walking along a dirt track in the desert where he comes upon a lone house. Chet, seventeen years old and then eighteen years old, shifts from one locale to the next, drama and humor emerging from details, modern era evoked, and then Chet meets Klara, a photographer, and the tale becomes one of Chet and Klara, themes of which involve image.
