Dutch Culture in a European Perspective

This five-volume set offers a complete history of the Netherlands since 1650. The first four volumes are devoted to a significant moment in the history of the Netherlands and describe the characteristics of Dutch culture in its European settings. The fifth volume discusses the findings presented in the four preceding volumes and suggests a way forward in research. The books cover a wide field of cultural history, not only the sciences, art, music and literature, but also education, religion and secularization, philosophy, social life, and urbanization.
