Beskrivelse
This is a study, written in French, of the African dudal, a name that designates both the human social group (or family) and its accompanying animal group (or herd). The author shows how the technical pastoral organization of the Wodaabe of the Niger has responded to changing ecological, political and social circumstances. Part ethnographic, part historical, the book traces the experience over time of one particular small family group (the descendants of Mannga), and analyzes their position within a wider network of Sudanese social and agrarian arrangements.
