Beskrivelse
Dreaming of Shooting Stars tells the story of a middle-class family one year after the tragic death of their eldest son, Robert. The family of four, which is made up of a younger brother named Alex, a teenage sister named Beth, along with their mother and father, all find themselves still grieving and struggling as they continually try to deal with the harsh aftermath and consequences of his death.
The main character, Alex, who is a 21-year-old university student and celebrated son of the family, finds himself to be the one struggling the most with his death and feels an immense sense of guilt. Then one day, through a motion of divine intervention, his life changes forever when he discovers that his brother, Rob, has been miraculously resurrected for a finite amount of time.
Alex soon finds out, though, that the miracle has come with a catch, as it is revealed that only he himself can see his late brother's true identity, while everyone else, including his family, sees only a stranger, whom they learn to call Jonathon. Realizing that he has been given a second chance to be with his brother, Alex makes it his mission to take advantage of the gift. During the time together with their "new friend," each family member finds themselves making a deep connection with him. In doing so, they are reminded of the love that they had as a family. As a result, new bonds and everlasting memories are made.
Things then change halfway through the story when they are introduced to a mysterious visitor who unexpectedly intervenes and threatens their time together.
Together as a family, they are forced to face their haunting past and struggles. In doing so, they learn to never lose hope even in their darkest hours. Each is reminded that if they remain strong, they'll get what they were really longing for all along. It is a story of hope, love, and peace.
The story asks the question: What would you do if you had the chance to reconnect with a loved one who had passed away?
