Just a Gun," the second section, contains rewrites of classic American songs to reflect 21st century realities. A true tale of a life-saving mistake with a gun, an ambiguous self-justification from the mouth of a gun, and the dissolution of a human/ant colony when a member pulls out a gun. Works honoring those who've lost their lives to guns close out this section.

In the third segment, "Rainmountain and Lasa," an anti-colonial myth emerges from a lake in a tropical land where two young heroes, their friends, and ten thousand canaries combat autocratic forces of control and destruction.

The short stories in the last portion, "A Trip to a Foreign Land," explore encounters among people of different intentions, cultures, and inclinations as they face shifts in domestic and international customs.
