Beskrivelse
A burlesque parody of the Don Juan legend which delighted audiences at London's Gaiety Theatre when it opened in 1873. The comical travesty centers on the decedents of Don Giovanni and includes all the humor that Robert Reece was famous for. Its original production starred the premier actress of the Gaiety Theatre Nellie Farren in the role of the "principal boy." Victorian playwright Robert Reece was one of the most successful librettists of this time and his musical adaptation "The Chimes of Normandy" was the longest running musical of his era. He wrote the librettos for some of the most renowned British composers of musical theatre.
