Displacement

The air crackled with the feel of static electricity and the hairs on everyone's skin stood on end. The men and women in the control booth covered their faces to protect them from flying debris as an ethereal wind blew in from the portal. A small man with a hat and glasses stepped up to the brim of the portal, and gently caressed the edge of the shimmering hole with his fingers. The opening was approximately four to five feet in diameter. He thought to himself, "This portal looks amazingly similar to the larger portal in the Hollywood movie "Stargate".
