Disasters

A super-volcano explodes ... a massive asteroid hurtles on a collision course with the Earth: when such unexpected events happen, a disaster has occurred. There is no way such events can be predicted, or even anticipated. In many instances, there may be signs of pending problems; however, in the end the only hindsight is perfect. Some of the worst outcomes are derived by not thinking appropriately. In a world where everything appears going well, a feeling of security may be entirely false. The unexpected has a propensity to jump out of the shadows and scare us at the least opportune time. History is littered with notable disasters. Some have been monumental, others less consequential but still worthy of recognition. Outside of the mainstream of history, individuals may experience personal disasters. The end result of any disaster is the same whether historical or personal. Two of the stories in this collection are based on actual events. The others are a combination of real pending disasters or conjecture in an alternate world. The stories attempt to demonstrate how disasters appear; and, how they are handled by the victims. I hope you enjoy reading and thinking seriously about them. There is a message in each one.
