Beskrivelse
Drawing on a rich array of literary and artistic evidence, this accessible study examines the role and activities of entertainers in medieval Europe, particularly in Germany. Hartung examines the repertoire of acrobats, poets, musicians and jugglers, amongst others, their movements, their patrons, their role in courts and towns, their organisation and their treatment at the hands of secular and ecclesiastical authorities. Scattered throughout are numerous little drawings demonstrating games and sports. German text.
