Beskrivelse

Starting out from the unresolved mystery of the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the Kyrios Night, the author endeavours to show the source of Christian faith and the origin of all Christian services, and to give prominence to the celebration of the Kyrios Night as the middle and the very heart of the church year. While the theme of the Kyrios Night runs through the study like a golden thread, other different issues are touched on and re-examined to determine their relevance to the Kyrios Night, like, for example, the raising from the dead and resurrections, the Eucharist and the Lord's Supper, the Sabbath, and Sunday. The Christian-Jewish impetus has not been omitted, nor the ecumenical aspect of the Apostolic age and early and modern-day Christianity. The study moves between the disciplines of ecclesiastical history and dogmatic as well as practical theology, dwelling briefly on St. Augustine, Tertullian, Cyprian and Cyril, the Reformers up to Martin Bucer and Johannes Calvin, the Brotherhood of St. Michael and the Brothers of Taize as well as John Paul II and Benedict XVI it is a true compendium of fundamental theological substance. The author's remarks deserve special attention, as they offer a wealth of additional information. German text.
