The author analyses the challenges and options for action of women in the occupational field of engineering from a micro-political perspective. Which strategies do the women develop to deal with their status as numeral and cultural minority in the occupational field of engineering? Based on this question an empirical-based heuristic of the strategic positioning of women in the occupational field of engineering is developed: cultural parameters are linked systematically with adaptive strategies, minimal-invasive strategies, formal power, and the occupational change are being used.
