When Emily Dennison's best friend's handsome kid brother, Donnie Bowling, sweeps back into town, he tries to pull her into a whirlwind courtship. She resists the young man's invitations because she struggles to get her life together after a her ex did her wrong. She feels she's been robbed of all she holds dear, and heart is still raw. She's not ready to take a risk on another relationship but her attraction to Donnie is real.
Because of Donnie's persistence, even though he's younger than her, she begins to think it might be okay to let him share her future, but a threat from his past surfaces. Emily wonders if she has a positive connection with Donnie or on the brink of another relationship gone south?
