DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS AND PROBABILITY THROUGH EXAMPLES. Exercises solved with R

This book delves into Descriptive statistics and probability from a practical point of view. The topics begin by describing the corresponding methodology and illustrating it with a wide variety of fully developed examples, both from a mathematical point of view and with the support of the R software. Around a hundred exercises are presented, explained and developed in detail. The book begins by dealing with frequency distributions and exploratory data analysis, both formal and graphical. Descriptive statistics are then discussed, including measures of position, dispersion and shape, as well as correlation analysis and regression (linear, polynomial, hyperbolic and exponential). Two-dimensional frequency distributions, contingency tables, independence tests and association measures are also discussed. Distributions with more than two dimensions are also studied, as well as marginal and conditional distributions. Next, the calculation of probabilities is explored, analyzing most of the distributions of discrete and continuous random variables that are commonly used in statistics, as well as the relationships between them. Finally, the change of variable, distributions in sampling and the central limit theorem are studied.
