High school senior Denton Smalls is the epitome of a lost causein his mind as well as everyone elses.He's been stuffed in so many lockers that most of them have been permanently bent to accommodate his body shape for future incidents. His head has been dunked in so many toilets that he has more knowledge of the school's plumbing than the facilities staff.Denton may be lost, but day in and day out, he fights back against his tormentors, both in the student body and in the faculty. He has a fire burning from within that occasionally engulfs him and all those around him when he deals out punishment to those who slight him.As he treads water to stay afloat during his senior year, Denton is forced to explore the options available to him regarding his future, all the while dealing with inevitable loss, newfound love, and an ever-evolving sense of self.
