Potter's plays have ranged from the lives of Christ and Casanova to the acclaimed "Pennies from Heaven". This critical work traces Potter's career as a journalist, dramatist and failed parliamentary candidate. Stead concentrates particularly on both the authobiographical plays and those set in Gloucestershire. Peter Stead is the author of "Richard Burton: So Much, So Little" (1991).
