DEMOCRACY: The Evolution, Challenges, and Future of Government by the People

Democracy is a system of government in which power is held by the people, either directly or through elected representatives. It is a form of government that has been embraced by many nations around the world, and is considered by many to be the most just and equitable way of governing a society.

Definition of Democracy:

At its core, democracy is based on the principles of popular sovereignty, political equality, and majority rule. In a democratic system, the people have the power to choose their leaders and to participate in the decision-making process. This can be done either through direct democracy, where citizens vote on laws and policies directly, or through representative democracy, where citizens elect officials to represent them in the decision-making process.
