Dearth

Dearth: The details are scintillating, grainy and glorious. Truly compelling There's always a homely, menacing, half-familiar threat to the U.S.-Mexico border, and the atmosphere of Dearth registers it perfectly. Identity is slippery, and accounts are unreliable. We're ready for body parts to appear in trash bags beside the highway, as central character Ray, an outsider, still numb from the death of his wife, travels with a married couple he hasn't seen for years, and winds up in love with the wife.
