Earth's population has been scorched into near extinction by the invisible radioactive fire of the Great Burning. Scattered communities of courageous folk fight to survive against brigands, slavers, and mutants who roam a world where normal humans-namely children-have become a highly-prized commodity sought after by the Black Market. When sheriff's deputies Jat and Davies Tallow mount an expedition to seek out a group that calls themselves Foreverchildren, they also cross paths with a ruthless band of slavers out for revenge-turning their quest into a one-way trip to disaster.
