Daughter of the Promise

My own journey among the Hebrews might have been measured by a period of time no longer than a season; my entire life summed up in one night's murderous deeds. Only mercy lifted me with hope, casting a tiny glimmer on a seemingly insignificant word, a word jotted down by a simple palace scribe with neither understanding nor knowledge of the importance to me of such a word... "Then all of Jacob's children went down into Egypt with him." This one remembrance, a quiet assent, I pass down through my children to their children and to those who follow after, for centuries and beyond. I proclaim without hesitation I also have an inheritance. I am the first daughter of Israel, and I too, am numbered among the stars. I am Dinah.
