Beskrivelse
This substantial monograph reports on excavations between 1883 and 1892 of a Hallstatt cemetery at Frog near Rosegg in Austria. The report combines an analysis of the archaeological features and artefacts with a history of the excavations themselves. Initially, Tomedi identifies the excavators and discusses their methodologies and the dispersal of artefacts in museums across the region. Much of the study, however, focuses on the rich assemblage of artefacts, which included weaponry, wagons, jewellery, vessels and figurines, discussing what these objects tell us about the status of the interned. The book includes a regional overview of Hallstatt society and concludes with an illustrated catalogue. German text.
