Reading is her hardest class Follow along as her teacher, Miss Williams, and her friend, Clara, encourage her to keep trying. Does Darcy listen to their advice or does her dyslexia stop her from doing things she loves?
"The bell rang and the rest of the class rushed outside for recess. Darcy was halfway out the door when Miss Williams stopped her."
The message, mission, and purpose of this book are specific. Abigail initially started writing this story due to the lack of children's books about dyslexia. When she was growing up she didn't see any representation of herself as someone with dyslexia in a children's book. As the process of the book continued and the passion got deeper Cecilia and she decided to create this into a series with the understanding that there are so many disabilities that need representation in children's books.
Every detail of the book was thoughtfully created and has a purpose. The word dyslexia is only used in the title and description to make people aware of what the book is about without having it be the main character. This is intentional to let Darcy shine while reading the book. Even down to the font (which is open dyslexic font) was thought through to make it easier for whom it helps.
