Crystelle Mourning

Crystelle left her inner city neighbourhood behind for a bright future in gentrified Brooklyn. But now, engaged to a well-employed man and suspecting she might be pregnant, Crystelle finds herself dreaming of her high school sweetheart Jimmie, who was gunned down one night long ago. Unable to escape thoughts of her past, Crystelle returns home to visit friends and family, including Jimmie's mother, who visits her son's killer in prison. With her help, Crystelle begins to accept and let go of the traumatic events of the past.
