This book is about thinking, thinking critically. It is also about policing. Thinking critically is one skill that is required of every police officer; it is one of the most critical assets of policing. The greatest advancements in tackling crimes have come from ideas, ideas that are borne from critical thinking.Critical thinking helps in investigation, appraisal, decision making and problem solving. These are activities police officers encounter daily in the course of their work. It is a skill that can be acquired and improved upon. This is what has formed the focus of this book.This book has also set out to teach us - how police officers can acquire thinking skills; how to improve their capacity to think critically; how to improve their capacity to reason; and how they can apply it to policing, decision making and problem solving.
