A crêpe is a very thin type of pancake. Crêpes can be sweet or savory. They are often served with a wide variety of fillings such as cheese, jam, or chocolate. Crêpes are also sometime flambéed, such as in crêpes Suzette.
The French term "crêpe" derives from crispa, the feminine version of the Latin word "crispus." Crêpe are popular in many parts of the world including France, Belgium, Norway, Japan and the United States. They are sometimes served as street food where they are rolled and then hand held for eating on the go.
