Dyan  is about to leave the Creche and become a Magister of the Buza System. Gifted with empathy and an understanding of people, Dyan will take her place as a teacher and nurturer of children in the only family she has even known. But before she can do so, she must pass a final test the System puts to her.

And that test is murder.
