Beskrivelse

Early 19th-century Hawaiian women created quilts using bright, solid-colored fabric. They would fold a large piece of fabric into quarters or eighths and cut flowing motifs symbolic of their lush environment. The practice of using a single piece of solid-color fabric hand-appliqued onto a white background became their tradition-- a tradition that both inspired and stimulated the author when creating her own designs. With 26 patterns to get you started and easy-to-follow directions, learn to cut and stitch both hand- and machine-appliqued blocks. Projects include "Hawaiian Seas" wall quilts, "Hawaiian Christmas" with four blocks, and various flowers and sea creatures. The designs begin with single color, appliqued blocks and progress to blocks adorned with additional colors and motifs. Quilters of all skill levels will discover a beautiful Hawaiian quilt to inspire them.
