Fourteen-year-old Coy Povine leads a miserably insignificant life with his domineering, quick-tempered mother and milquetoast father in rural Mississippi. When his quirky cousin Woody decides to steal a truck and coerces Coy to ride along they have a deadly run-in with corrupt deputy sheriff and family enemy Clark Hannon. The dust doesn't settle before Coy stumbles upon a family member's illegal activity and then evidence that his and Woody's closely held childhood secret is about to be exposed. These two country bumpkins will keep you laughing as they wade through the brambles of mystery and intrigue to discover who all is out to get them.
