Gabon is facing an unprecedented pandemic, rightly described as a health crisis. The decisions made today will determine the Gabon of tomorrow. Do the country's leaders really intend to make Gabon a model of sustainable development? My answer is no.With more than a year to go before the 2023 presidential election, the leaders of the political opposition are already asserting the need for a change of power. Their discourse, which has become routine, consists of valuing alternation both for its own sake, as a sign of "good democratic health," and also because it is supposed to bring about political and social change. More broadly, a whole series of actors (political leaders and activists, collaborators of elected officials and administrative agents, journalists and political commentators, representatives of civil society, employees, pressure groups, etc.) are positioning themselves with a view to a possible future changeover.
