Beskrivelse
Coral Gardens is the fourth book from the Under the Sea series by Patricia Gleichauf. Did you know that corals are actually small endangered sea creatures? Coral reefs are underwater gardens where sea plants and sea animals live. A single coral is called a polyp and baby coral is called larva. Soft coral polyps grow on the ocean floor, while hard coral polyps attach to rock formations and old coral reefs. They play vital roles in the ecosystem by helping to keep the oceans clean, providing food and refuge for other fish and algae. Elkhorn and Staghorn are types of hard coral, and Sea Plume and Sea Fan are soft corals. Parrot fish and surgeon fish keep algae trimmed with the help of sea urchins. Sponges, clams, and turtles also do their part to keep their environment clean, productive, and safe for every sea creature.
This is the fourth book in Patricia Gleichauf's award-winning Under the Sea series. She wrote this book to give a voice to coral, the tiny saltwater animal that plays an essential part in maintaining the health of our world's oceans. Coral Gardens will take its readers on an amazing and brilliantly colorful journey under the sea.
