Copperhead

When the bodies of a UCSF professor and a San Francisco Ballet prima ballerina are found murdered in the Sierra Nevada mountains inside a grandiose motor home littered with gold mining equipment, maps of buried treasure, and Civil War artifacts, SFPD Homicide Detective Trophy Jones, jumps at the chance to take the case. To her surprise, she is partnered with Camille Maréchal, herself an ex-ballerina and who, by a series of unfortunate events, is the only eye-witness to the crime scene. Together, their investigation winds a tortuous path, past the usual suspects, through beheaded bodies and mind-bending drugs, toward a fortune in gold coveted by a shadowy villain consumed with creating a futuristic brand of slavery that no war, civil or otherwise, will be able to stop.
