On Mother's Day 1970, Leslie Sabo Jr.'s mother received a gift of orchids from her son, who only hours before had fallen in the jungles of Vietnam fighting for his country. Awarded the Medal of Honor in 2012 after years of campaigning by his family, Sabo's brave actions were forgotten for over three decades.
