This contributed work aims to highlight and showcase state of the art research and innovations for communications technologies in connected smart cities. The main objectives include the exploration of interfaces of communication technologies in 5G networks as enablers, provide a platform to explore design-specific issues for the integration of architectural components, and initiate new discussions on the challenges and opportunities in terms of interoperability and design solutions.
